Someone from the moderator group keeps deleting my messages in the message board. I kept them concise and informative, but if it's not wanted in AoC, then I will not be in anyone's way and discontinue CCL after the final.

When a duel has come to an end, I will need a representative from each participating clan to contact me and confirm the outcome.
If the standings in the ranking of clans are equal, the direct duel outcome determines the higher ranked clan.


After all of the games have concluded, we will enter a playoff mode.
Teams may be reshaped for that, however a player cannot play for more than one clan during a CCL event.

BASIC SETUP

- 5 vs 5 players per game
- 24h/turn (we-go-fast)
- ancient map ('Rise of Rome')
- supremacy (default)
- no max turns
- military upkeep
- with kings, but no king capture
- no diplomacy (default alliances with clan mates, auto war with enemies)
- open travel for both troops and king


I will create all of the games and send to you the links of those, which you should join, as well as the according passwords. Every single game will also have the prefix 'CCL', if you want to easily search for them.

Whether your team starts on the eastern or western side of a game, will be declared by randomization. Each game's title will also give away the sides for each team (team on the left side of the title will be the left side team on the map and vice versa).
Here's an example of a game title:

CCL Clan A vs. Clan B
(Clan A would be on the left, Clan B on the right)

The fractions for the left team are:
Berbers, Carthage, Germania, Iberians, Ligurians.

The fractions for the right team are:
Greece, Illyria, Persians, Slavs, Thrace.


Every clan will fight against every other clan in the league.

You will need at least 5 players per clan, but you could also make use of more players by deploying different players for different games.
However all of the players of your team need to be registered beforehand, so just give me a list either in here or via in-game message.

[so in short: only 1 team per clan, minimum of 5 players, all of them need to be registered before the start of the league]

After all of the games have concluded, we will enter a playoff mode. How exactly the playoffs will shape out, is being voted upon currently. However the higher seeded team gets to choose sides!

We've got 3 larger cities (carthage, rome and athens), carthage should be part of team A, athens team B, rome neutral in the middle...? a nice spot to fight over.

carthage (A) and athens (B) [big cities with fast access to the centre]

berbers (A) and persia (B) [southern corners]

ligurians (A) and illyria (B). [central positions with equal access to the centre]

germania (A) and slavs (B) [hot fights in the north!]

iberians (A) and thrace (B) [both instant sea access, support/provider spot]

This may look a bit weird, since many are settled in southern regions from the start, but that will quickly be equalized by natural expansion.
My first draft had sarmatians instead of thrace, but that would be rather unbalanced.

I think this setup could make sense and would be fair, what do you think? (:

eastern team has much more total population. all those capitals have bigger pop than any other provinces

THE FOLLOWING POSTS (including this one) FROM CLINT AND ME WERE REGARDING A FORMER DEFAULT SETUP, WHICH HAS BEEN CHANGED SINCE.

I just created a single player game with only two nations, fast expansion without action points, no festivals or anything, just occupation of provinces (I left out the few provinces, which would be fought over for), you can see the result below.

so yeah, it is slightly tilted, however I ran 10 test runs with AI now (I took celts and did nothing) and the results were all over the place, but even in the end.
also keep in mind that the ligurians have a slightly better access by land towards italy with its huge cities compared to its counterpart illyria.

different positions demand different approaches and I think this may be as good as we'll get it here. I also prefer a setting like this over some dull 50/50 map any day of the week (:

however a solution to this would be to have every clan confrontation twice with alternating starting positions, but that would mean loooots of games to play.

let me know what you think about that (:

eastern team have first move to italy. they will capture less provinces at turn 1. 2nd turn they can capture rome(250k) and other 2 100k+ provinces. that makes 450k1 pop with only 3 provinces at turn 2. also eastern team has early access to balkan provinces. gold income will be high enough to atk directly at turn 3-4.

let me add that capturing a province does not necessarily mean that you will get to keep it. the two teams are at war from the very beginning by default and if you go all in from both sides in order to occupy the centre, then the team, which does not move first, has the advantage (at least with kings involved).

another point: there is a significant difference between land path and sea path. sea path is more expensive, so land path offers more actual troops for the money.

this should play out just fine actually.

EDIT: elias just suggested to swap balts for slavs, that may do the trick?
I have adapted the screenshot from the earlier post.

what's your suggestion by the way?

Hi,

Im Elias that curare told in the reply above.

I think using slavs instead of balts may balance the pop thing, but im not sure...

Also, the battle for the middle will be a total mess imo and players action will tell who get it, i think the middle is well balanced.

We could do a unrated test on this map the way it is and another with slavs instead of balts.

Do the test battle a 2m team game, but not clan, and we get 10 active people to do it. You can count on me to do that if it is in a weekend.

no, since that would open the door for collusion.

you can however register more than 5 players in total and have different teams fight in different duels.

i think he have a point here, but im not sure he have the best solution.

maybe is better to let berbers there and swap iberians for celts or gauls. im not sure wich one, but i think gauls.

and the reason to let berbers instead of iberians is cause berbers have a headstart in the same continent as persians and will be able to support carth by land first.
iberians need to sail before been able to support carth by land and confront persians.

I also prefer gauls instead of celts cause it start in a position he can get a fast way to the sea next to ligurians and also control the celt lands, since iberians territory will be controlled by berbers
