CCL2 will start on September 29th.

Hello everyone! (:

After all the positive feedback throughout our community and despite some challenges of the past I would like to set up CCL2 for you.

Any clan may enter and since some clans have many members, I think it would be a good idea to allow 2 teams per clan.
The players of those teams would not be interchangeable, of course!

Please contact me in-game or directly here in this thread if you would like to participate. Having one person to contact per clan would make things a bit easier for me.

So please let me know if you are in and which players of your clan would make your team.

The process of preparation might take ~2 weeks, so everyone's hopefully got enough time to get their teams together.

Below you can find the basic set up (it's the one from the original CCL).

Suggestions are always welcome and we may openly discuss anything.

BASIC SETUP
(changes from the first CCL will appear blue)

- 5 vs 5 players per game
- 24h/turn (we-go-fast)
- ancient map ('Rise of Rome')
- supremacy (default)
- no max turns
- no military upkeep
- with kings, but no king capture
- no diplomacy (default alliances with clan mates, auto war with enemies)
- open travel for both troops and king


I will create all of the games and send to you the links of those, which you should join, as well as the according passwords. Every single game will also have the prefix 'CCL', if you want to easily search for them.

Whether your team starts on the eastern or western side of a game, will be declared by randomization. Each game's title will also give away the sides for each team (team on the left side of the title will be the left side team on the map and vice versa).
Here's an example of a game title:

Clan A vs. Clan B
(Clan A would be on the left, Clan B on the right)

The fractions for the left team are:
Berbers, Carthage, Germania, Iberians, Ligurians.

The fractions for the right team are:
Greece, Illyria, Persians, Slavs, Thrace.


Every clan will fight against every other clan in the league.

You will need at least 5 players per clan, but you could also register 2 teams per clan or make use of more players by deploying different players for different games per team.
However all of the players of your team need to be registered beforehand, so just give me a list either in here or via in-game message.

[so in short: only 2 teams maximum per clan, minimum of 5 players each, all of them need to be registered before the start of the league]

After all of the games have concluded we will enter a playoff mode.

Clan leaders may contact me in-game or here to apply for the league, I will set up all the games and give out passwords respectively.

I will assemble all the registered clans in this post, as well as the league table and other significant information.

If there are a large number of Clans, could I suggest splitting the 1st round. If every clan plays every other clan, that is a lot of games. banana

Sure, that might be reasonable at some point.

Last time we had 10 competing groups and thus already lots of games for the league stage.

Now some clans will make use of the option for a second clan team, so we might just easily surpass that number.

However we'd need to seed each clan in order the create equal and fair groups, how would we go about that?

Seed or just random allocation ? Depends on how many go through. If 50% go through, you've reduced the number of games and given Clans a fair selection of enemies. It will depend on numbers.

The other option is every Clan plays every other Clan at least once and

- shorter limit on turns = not same game style in Round 1
or
- don't have every game running at once = It will stretch out the Tournament time frame.

Too many games for those who are busy and it becomes a chore rather than fun. But the chance to have a big Clan battle last year was awesome.

I suppose it would be reasonable to have 8 teams advance to the knockout stage, just like last time.

The league phase included 9 simultaneous games for everyone with 10 teams competing in total.
That wasn't too bad, however if that number should increase drastically, then having max turns and possibly 2 league phases one after another would bring the number of simultaneous games down again.

These options seem reasonable to me, and in any case we'll have to see about the total number of teams for now anyway (:

We've got ~2 weeks time for that process, no need for a hurry. I would like for every interested player to have a real chance to find a team and participate here (:

Curare, I suggest you set the turn duration for the games at 36h at least, and please no more than 5 or 6 simultaneous games, otherwise many people will struggle to make all the moves.. We're all busy people on our real lives :happyx:

By the way Curare, your old CCL explanation has a different idea about how many teams per clan are allowed and if they are interchangable than your CCL2 explanation in top. So maybe you could change the bottom one and make it blue to prevent confusion?
