I need some design feedback :gott:

I am working on a new game; a turn-based strategy wargame. I am trying to somewhat model it after Age of Conquest but using real units that can be moved on a HEX map.

Era?
I need to tell the artist what troops to create, so I wonder what Era would be cool? Roman? Middle Ages? Would it be OK to just use generic unit graphics not specific to a time period?

Campaigns?
While Age of Conquest doesn't have any campaigns, I wounder if it would be something cool to have? I would envision the campaign to consist of e.g. 5-10 scenarios that have to be completed one after the other. I could probably do a "Roman Empire" campaign where the different scenarios would consist of "Punic War 1", "Punic War 2" etc. You have to complete each war scenario to advance in the campaign.

Crusades would probably make for a good middle ages campaign, although I don't want to do religion just yet (keep the game simple system at first). What other military campaigns could be created for the European middle ages?

Please vote! :gott:

I think any or all of it is good. I voted for the Roman Empire time period since the Roman Empire is the longest lasting of the world's large empires. It's full of many wars and campaigns which gives you a lot to draw on. I also voted for the campaigns too since I've seen a number of players make maps that have scenarios meant to represent a specific wars, battles or time period of conflicts. Which makes me think that there are a fair number of players who would enjoy a campaign style game.

Cool! Looks like the Roman Era is the clear winner so far. I guess it's time to bring in the war elephant then!!!

Yes, so I'll have to add campaigns then. Have to find a good way to do it, but I agree it's needed.
