Example case :

Empty province A and empty province B are located next to country X and country Z. Country Z is lower so it'll get turn priority.

So country Z is sending troop to province A THEN province B, and country X do the same. So the result is country Z will get BOTH province while country X will get NOTHING.

Now country X could have been smarter by sending troop to province B first, but country Z could foresee that reverse the sending order to get both provinces as well.

What i'm trying to say is that this is too luck dependent and feels unfair to me. But i'm not providing any solution, just a complain. I think we gotta figure out a way to both countries will get one province each in such case.

edit : amount of troop sent could be an alternative variable we use to determine who gets the province instead of rank system.

What you are describing is not luck, but skill vs. skill, anticipation vs. anticipation. What more could you ask for?

Suggestion: declare a war first, then send the troops, then the number of troops will matter haha

Or, a check is made when moving into an empty province. If the province is not empty when moving, the move is skipped and the next move is executed instead. In this way, country X and Z would get exactly one province each.

I think the check is necessary in case open travel is ON. It would just be something else for everyone to accept, but at least it would be consistent and calculable, and the unlucky few would not get spectacularly rekt.

Actually nudelsoup has quite a good solution there. Simply skip the now impossible move in the game mechanics and move on to the next actually possible move. That is doable and fair - the player with turn priority would still get the place they wanted the most by going for that province first.

This is a good idea.

That's a great idea: I'll add it for the next update! :gott:
