Hello,

I just wanted to make this new topic to discuss about some goods and bads of AoC IV, since it transformed from old AoC III.

So, here's my opinion of AoC IV compared to AoC III

General:

AoC Iv has a nice GUI and diplomacy options, making the game more realistic (no Total War and Land-Water-Land attacks activated)

Artificial Intelligence:

Mostly noted by my brother, the AI in AoC III is more powerful than the AI in AoC IV. The AI now acts weirdly, passively or even seems like surrendering. (I had make a topic about it)

Map:

Backstory: (why I am copying "Doof" from P&F)
I was excited to unlock all maps and modding, knowing that my brother old fun, the American map (he used to play American Map in AoC III) is available.

The disapointing think is that the map looks "unsatisfying"
(Sorry Mr. Aschwanden, not meaning to insult you, I know its a true hard work to finish it!)

Actually, the accuracy of the map and the scenarios plus the nations in AoC III is much better than AoC IV, that my brother loses appetite for the AoC IV. If I bought the maps with real "papers", it would not beneficial to purchase the maps. (especially Asia and America)

But, I can't deny, your World Map (the big ones) is truly your most magnificent masterpiece, although some nations were missing. I could not stop playing for 2 days in that one single map!

That's it..... Any opinions?

All hail :gott: :gott: Noble Master

I have been around since AoC v2, aka Aevum Obscurum. With that said, I barely played v3 but I did work on the maps there, just as I do with v4 so I am familiar with it.

On the comparisons between North America and Asia between v3 and v4, I think it comes down to the need for larger provinces in v4 thus less use of the land. Also you probably notice the land is just taken from the World Map, unlike how the 2 Europe maps are.

In the future we might create larger versions for North America and Asia, but I couldn't say for sure (up to noblemaster). Currently we're working on Japan and a larger version of Europe. I don't know how much of a demand there is for larger improved versions of North America and Asia.

On missing nations for the World Map... well, if there is something you want I might be able to squeeze it in there. Due to image limitations, so that maps work on mobile devices and weaker computers, the image is as big as we can go. I tried to fit everything I could and even just recently added Macedonia since there was a request for it.

In the end, I think each new iteration gets visually improved. Really enjoy the graphics of v4 over the others!

I was always a huge proponent of water territories in V3. Without exploring any of the other topics, that fact alone is why I'd say V4 is better.

By the way, what is V5?
