Currently in IV, the order of movement gives priority to the larger nation. This can cause a problem for the little nations, as they won't even get a chance to move their king away, if the larger nation makes it their first move as well. As well as other problems. To make games less steamroll-y, I would suggest priority goes to the smaller nation.

Thoughts? Opinions? What do you guys think? Say something!

That's seems like a good idea. Other opinions? YAY or NAY?

turn order is determined same as v3? i haven't really got to play a lot yet, but i wouldn't penalize the larger nations for succeeding in games... i'm also biased since i favor the blitzkrieg lol

edit: make it an option? "Reverse Turn Order" :???:

That's a very good idea! I strongly supporting making the smaller nations move first.

I would agree with switching it over to weaker nations moving first.

It's on the todo-list :kg:

It's possible. However, I somewhat feel it should be the same for all games you play to remove any confusion!?

In defense of my weakness, you haven't played AoCIV much to see the steamrolling that goes on! :P

Also, currently, everyone starts out Neutral with each other (unless otherwise specified specifically in the scenario) and it's easy to just declare war and attack on the same turn. A lot of people lose their King even though they ordered to move him.

It goes by number of provinces, not current ranking on leaderboard right?

the only good peasant... is a dead peasant :gott: :sm:

and if your king is in a precarious position, using your 1st move to get king out of said precarious position is common sense? if an attacker is set for a 1st move kill and the defender can't do anything about it, well don't fault the game - fault the player who got him/herself into that position? turn order is just as tactical in v4 as it is in v3, i already verified that in the couple of v4 games i did play... just because it has factored so heavily into just about every move of every game howard has ever played, v2-v4 ;)

"classic declare war" is a more favorable option to inhibit steam rolling in my opinion. penalizing success in games just sounds like a really bad idea to me... unless it were an option (all about the choice!)

baseball analogy... your pitcher is throwing a no-hitter, but the umpire decides to load the bases - to give your opponent a better chance of scoring. why even play at that point...

:partyyy: double post :partyyy:

cuz i'm the one true howard...

keep in mind that very very very few players actually understand game actions and the differences between them! we're talking like 1 player out of every 10000? 100000? seriously... i have yet to meet a player that understands game actions that hasn't been around since v2. that's right, i'll repeat it to emphasize - not a single player from v3 to present. not 1 :ops:

I actually agree with KingHoward. I worry that by giving the preference to the weaker nation, it will just turn into a cat and mouse game. He's also right in that few players understand turn order. I've been playing V3 since 2012. For years I thought the turn order was based on who placed their orders first. I would set timers to ensure that I got on the game the second a new turn began so I could put my orders in first and get the priority. It was only recently I realized all that effort and energy was for nothing, lol. :kg:

I strongly disagree with how it is currently. Sure, it may be cat and mouse if we change it, but currently the larger nation just uses it to their advantage to king snipe his way to victory. A little guy, who may have a chance, gets no chance at all when he can't move his king to safety.
