Maybe make a bigger link on the site or something, but we need something. These forums are extremely slow.

there is only that much traffic on the main site (AevumObscurum.com). also, a lot of people post in their forums - i.e. ThePond etc. which is alright of course!

I wish I could get more traffic, it's just difficult - to generally get people onto the site not only the forum ...

I hear you... damn...

Are there any ads that I can click to get you money? I feel that bad for you.

I am not thinking about money right now! However, there are some links at http://www.aevumobscurum.com/original (right-hand side panel) to vote for the game :D

I run out of ideas how to promote the game - i.e. I posted it wherever I could. However, I am open to new ideas! Careful: posting in other boards is ok, but some people might consider it spam...

I have found out that the voting thingamajigger sites do not work well. They usually count on how many clicks to that voting link are scored. This means you will be quickly overshadowed by sites that make those links a vital part of the game (i.e. getting a certain amount of resources). On top of that, there are not many people that browse those sites, although every once in a while you might get lucky in a search. I will vote, but it will do next to nothing.

Those vote sites use the hits you bring in to get people to click their banners so that they make money. At any rate, I know a couple of forums that I could state this in. It would also help to make a firefox extension (addons.mozilla.org) or some other way to get on another well-traveled site.

That said, it would be nice to rake in some profits to help sustain the game.ou could also get a banner from our freinds at Mozilla. I think the rates for those banners are $1 for every click on that banner. Google is also a great way to make money off advertisement.

Agreed, the voting sites do not work very well in general, except for http://www.free-games.com.au/Detailed/1719.html (good rating, not number of hits). For the others I only get 1-2 visitors per voting site per day. There are a lot of possibilities for browser games to cheat ...

Regarding the browser plugin, that's actually a cool idea  How would you do the plugin? Press the button and the game comes up? I have no experience with browser plugins?

I got some google ads, but they do not generate a lot of money. Also, the game is not played within the browser, so people do not tend to come back once they installed it. Web ads are cool, but not quite feasible for this game.

The browser plugin can do all sorts of stuff after connecting to the AO server. It could check on the status of your games, allow you to watch them, heck, even play the game from there if you make it so.

In short, it can do anything you want it to.

I can't make them though. I bet somebody can.

As for the ads, where are they?

on the right-hand side panel. I had more ads before, but it does not really make a difference. I guess I could add ads to the forums, but then there is not that much activity at the moment!

Well, there's always Google Adsense and Google Adwords, although you have to pay(only for the clicks you get. Meaning, you only pay when people enter aevumobscurum site), and im not sure about the efficience of it.

Im not sure now how does it work exactly, but basically you give keywords, and your Site appears on the right side of google search, wne someone enters one of the keywords you gave.

They also give information on how many times your keywords are searched on Google, and the cost of the clicks depend on how popular the keywords are(i think). And you can set a limit cap on how much you pretend to spend everyday.

Meh, if you are interested, check it. im missing lots of details.

Alright, I added some google ad to this message board (see top)! I hope that's alright with everybody :mg: If it generates as much money as on the main site, I expect to get enough money for a beer every couple of months!
