It would mean more work for you if you wrote your own language. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong with that as some of us will have to learn whatever is used. With your own language you might actually have more control.

If you go with JAVA will it be JAVA or JAVA script?

The game is written in Java. Javascript is not a programming language. I will shoot him if he uses javascript.

Although I would have liked Java, it would possibly allow people to write malicious code. Also, as it is not a script, it would possibly be difficult to stop a running AI thread.

So, the closest alternative that would fit the bill appears to be Pnuts.

Opinions?

Cant the AI run in the players computer? Send just the moves like a normal human? Then no one will write malicious codes! If not can`t you make a security limitation like applets?

That would require the user to always login to the game to upload those moves. Or even leave their computer online all the time. Not everyone can do that.

I will run both on a player's computer (for testing!) and also on the server!

Running your own script on your own computer is obviously not a problem. However, when the server calls your script to obtain the moves, I have to make sure you did not add any malicious code...

I dont think many players will be able to make an AI. May can someone check the codes? Would be nice to let you test your AI against default AI in your own machine without havint to send it to anyone.

Local testing - yes, I am planning on that! You will be able to test your code against my code.
