Hello internet!

So my map can't be uploaded because ut has a © stuck to it. But, the map is one of these use-and-give-credit maps.

A lot of other modded maps that are available right now also have a © attached to them somewhere.

So how do I overcome this problem?

Please check the license terms. I think a map can be copyrighted but at the same time allow use of the map if appropriate credits are given.

How about you post the map /w link to source and license information here so we can have a look at it and tell you if it is OK?

Map was found here: http://www.worldatlasbook.com/europe/eu ... e-map.html

On the front page of the website (http://www.worldatlasbook.com/) it says "we provide maps", so I thought it would be okay. I think the maps are supposed to be used by teachers or whatnot.

The only real reason I went to the forum for help was because the editor said I couldn't upload because of the whole copyright thing. I have no idea how it figured that out.

Looks like that site just says 'copyright'. You could email them & ask.

Generally, a good source for maps is the CIA. They provide all their maps as "Public Domain", so you can do with them whatever you like:
https://www.cia.gov/library/publication ... fmaps.html
Download the PDF-version! Then scale the PDF and copy the parts you need into an image editing program. Please note that they tend to come with texts in the maps, so you'd probably want to clean them up manually. Maybe there is some way to hide text in the PDF also?

Otherwise, Wikimedia Commons has a lot of maps that can be used. Here would be an appropriate one for Europe:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File ... 006_WF.svg

Please note, if you search in Wikimedia Commons, make sure it either says "Public Domain", "CC-BY" or "CC0". You cannot use "CC-BY-SA" on the other hand. I'll suggest if in doubt, post your map of choice here and we'll comment if it's OK!

It looks like they don't have an email adress.

The thing is that I already made a map, all done with scenarions and everything. But, I could download the world map you've been talking about and replace the map from worldatlasbook.com! I just have to make sure it's scaled right.

Yes, as long as it's the same map projection, you should be able to re-scale and replace the current image.
