I've began to create a new MiddleEarth game. Currently have the map and provinces laid out and am now moving on the the library. I'm looking for flags.

I'll grab something in the meantime, but if anyone out there has ideal ones, I'll take them.

Play on at least three scenario's
First Age
Third Age
"Un-Named/Defined Age"

I am open to suggestions and comments.

I grabbed the flags from famfamfam flags (so small that most of the countries are not recognizable anyway).

Taking a step back on the MiddleEarth. I began to test a scenerio and found that I needed to put in a few borders on the PNG file.

First shot at developing a map (quite fun actually).

Trust me, I'll shout when I need help. Playing with water connections but haven't quite got the hang of it yet.

Help !!!

OK, Pretty much have a working scenario with the exception of adding water connections. I initally added 6 water connections by selecting "Add Waters". After the points where added I entered the "Test" mode an attempted to attack from one providence to another. Of course it failed. I am obviously missing something here that needs a little clarification.

Further information:

Added three "waters".
Blue dot 1 - Easterlings Capital
Blue dot 2 & 3 - On the opposite shore of "Sea of Rhun"

Whenever I attempted to "Add Connection" it treated the connection as a land connection. Tried to get connection to lock on the Blue water dot but to no avail.

Okay - I'm feeling lazy so I'm going to make my reply general and not specific to your map. So - see if you can follow what I say.

Land Province #1 - has a black dot within it's borders.
Land Province #2 - has a black dot within it's borders.
Between Province #1 and #2 is an ocean. Somewhere in the middle of the ocean I place a blue (water) dot.
I now go and establish a water path by drawing a blue line from the blue (water) dot to each black dot (Land Province) that I what connected by a water route. In this example I want Province #1 and #2 to be connected.

Did you follow me? Is this what you did on your map? Does your map look like what I described?

Thanks Fodder, it makes complete sense. I was placing the water pot on land and then attempting to make the connection. Duh!!!

Now I am tempted to scrap the whole mess. The map I like, but as I have laid out the provinces and built one scenario, I feel that my province layout is relatively poor. I am tempted to put it out there for review and input but I am not sure of the next step. I realize nothing will ever be perfect, but I want the map to be comprehensive and enjoyable.

Have yet to name the provinces as well.

Please advise

Also looking for input to the first age.
3 rings to the elves - Rivendell, Lorien, Wood Elves?
7 rings to the dwarves - ?
9 to the kings - ?
1 to rule them all - ?
3 Wizards

Any Middle Earth gurus input would be welcomed.

If you want to, before you upload it, I could take a look and give you a second opinion on the province layout.

Naming provinces - never done it for V3. Most people are perfectly fine with Province 86 Province 87 Province 88 etc etc.

Can't help on scenario's, not a Middle Earth guru :p

Travis,
I'll send it to whomever wishes to check it out. Still have a few unlinked provinces to cleanup. I've played a couple of domination games to validate all links are available but it seems each time I play it I find one more.

What is all required if I send it to you?

Just the game file or are is the supporting map and flag files also required?

Thanks

Just the map file. Your flags should be inside of it if you added them to the library.

Not a middle earth guru but exactly what are you looking for?
I think the line is: 9 to the kings of men. If your looking for which kingdoms those men came from. I couldn't tell you without looking it up. However, you can make some assumptions. Gondor would clearly be one of them. Most likely Rohan. Strider was know as a Northman so one of the Northern most human kingdoms would also work well. Beyond that I have to really start taking guesses - huh, uneducated guesses. :p
