I gave it a 3. It's a fun map, but you need to throw some variety into the provinces. All at 700 troops/100 economy is too predictable. And there's the obvious play imbalance, with the Atlantean overpowered and the corner factions and islands at a disadvantage. Also the background terrain features screw up the faction colors so it's sometimes a little hard to tell who owns what.

Sorry to harp on the bad points. Overall it is a fun map. But I think it could be made better.

On the upside, I like the size/scale and number of factions. It makes for some quick, action-packed games.

Actually, anybody could just create a better scenario with the scenario editor! :kg:

I don't quite have the time - also no matter how I do it - there will still be people commenting on it. What I want to say ... we are in need for somebody creating new scenarios, i.e. scapegoat :barb:

I thought you were asking us to comment on it. I didn't mean anything personal, I was just giving you my impression of the map, which is what I thought you wanted. I in no way meant to disparage the tremendous job you've done of putting the game together. I intended my comments to be taken in a purely constructive way.

I'm not much of a modder, but I might get a few free hours over the weekend. I'm willing to putz around with it but I make no promises as to what, if anything, will result.

I wasn't implying anything! It's more like a trap - whoever replies will be signed up automatically for scenario modding! :ug:

I have to agree with TotalLoss. It's a fresh map to play after spending so much time on the Europe one, but there are a few things that need to be fixed:

*Atlantis overpowered. For the theme of the map I would give it to provinces to start off with, though if you want it really balanced it should just be one (i.e, I wouldn't play a proper ranked game on it due to this).

*Visual map problems. As TotalLoss said, it's a little hard to see the faction colours well with the different coloured terrain. I thought the Atlantis faction was a completely different one when I saw its lands in Egypt compared to the ones it starts off on.

*Historical inaccuracies. Now I know AO isn't trying to be 100% accurate (especially on the Atlantis map) but I think that at least you could replace the Jerusalem and European crusader factions with something more ancient or nothing at all. After all, we are talking about the days of Pharoah's in Egypt, though you mostly understand this (e.g, pirate faction and barbarians).

These are all just problems I see with the map and I'm not asking you to fix them king. Also I'm already signed up to a map, so :p

bit small for my liking as you can tell from the mars map (hopefully up soon, no rush) but overall it's done nothing good for my rating but is fun trying not to get killed
